Works as expected

Cool little utility. Works as expected, even on my retina mac. It’s really simple and straight forward.

Works very well. and so does this developer other app, Screen Resizer. I use them both along with other tools to produce demos for iOS apps. The interface of Screen Cropper is clean and efficient, I particularly like the fine grained control of the cropping rectangle. I’ve tried several similar apps, but none worked as well, if at all, so it’s refreshing to find apps that work as advertised. Keep up the good work.

I was working on a video for Kickstarter, which requires 640 x 480, but apparently Apple took the crop feature out of iMovie, and it would only let me export my movie at 854 x 480 or some multiple of that. After Googling and not finding anything helpful, I searched for “crop video” in the App Store and found this. It did exactly what I need. Even if I never use the app again, the $5 is easily worth the time I saved in not looking for another solution.

Exports were corrupted

This didn’t work for me. I wish there was a demo. All files that I created with the app were corrupted.

Not worth $5

Thought this would at least allow me to level out a crooked video. Dissapointed to find out that it couldn’t even do that. Not worth the money.

There are no options to specify output quality and the quality generated is very low. I opened a 4 GB file, cropped it slightly, then exported and ended up with a 200mb file. Suffice it to say, the quality was terrible. Further, the output file format does not seem to be compatible with standard Mac apps like Quicktime. I was able to open and view it in VLC, but nowhere else.

Best $5 I've spent this year

I'd like to thank the developer(s) for coming up with this. JUST what I needed at a price that was a bargain.

Works well but needs one critical feature

This does the job as advertised. However, the fact that you cannot *play* the video in the app to preview your new creation is pretty limiting. There is a small timeline scrubber but it's not ideal. Regardless, for $5, it's a good app.

doesn't work

The interface is cool and seems simple to use but all my videos are just black screens after using the crop and saving the video. Not worth $5

Quick Time can't open "file isn's compatible"

imported a .mov file, sropped perfectly, exported (no export as feature) and it saved as .mov file. Quick Time could not open and it was corrupt in ITunes. Want a refund... ain't got time for this. BS app. would give it NO STARS.

corrupted video export

I LOVE THIS APP BUT... This app has worked befoe but now needs to be updated. I have tried restarting the app multiple times, refeashing my computer, ony having this program running. and even shut down and restarted my computer. nothing is wrong with the video I am trying to edit but the program keeps spitting out bad exports that of corrupted video files that I can not even open! Plz fix this soon. I wasted $5 on a different app but no app as the precision over accuracy like this app has! I love this app and will gladly make it 5 star once its fixed. Note: my app version is 1.1 (1007) MacOS Mojave Version 10.14.6

It doesn’t work

The file format it exports can’t be opened. I’ll be asking for a refund for this garbage.

Did what I needed it to do… excellent program.

Hey Gang: I was kind of worried with some of the negative reviews on here… but I needed a program to do this… I hate having videos with black spaces to the left and right of the video. This program did what I needed it to do… and took a 1.1 GB file down to about 540 MB file. Did not affect the cropped video or the sound. It did take all the black away. Could not have been simpler. I don’t doubt that there were problems for those who wrote about them, but all I can say is that it works. And yes, the fan came on my MacBook Pro… as it was crunching the videe, but there was still plenty of power to do other things. The system did not become unresponsive or anything. I think that for me, this was $5.00 well spent. Adding it to my toolkit of programs that I use to get the results people expect from me. ALl in all, 5 stars !!!

Love it

I use this applicaiton multiple times a day. Use it to crop out parts of a screen recording that take up wasted space. Often times, I use this application and make no changes to the size at all - simply processing a MP4 with a lot of still shots of the comptuer screen, yielding dramatically smaller fileds to keep in my research archives. Ive never had any type of problems with quality, but perhaps I’m not a power user. Most of the use cases involve taking screen-recorded video (of desktop activity, or recordings of youtube video) and shrinnking them down to a compact size with no loss of quality. Cant comment on other reviewers here - for me, this tool always works, does what it needs, and has never crashed. Only warning is that it will use a lot of CPU, so be prepared for your MacBook to heat up! But I think thats common considering how much CPU work this involves. I’m giving it a 5 star - Great product, low price.
